Temple Newsam is a fascinating Tudor Jacobean mansion with 500 years of history littered with tales of ghosts and unexplained happenings.  Set within 1500 acres of sumptuous estate on the outskirts of Leeds, the Haunted Leeds team delve beyond the official history of royalty and nobility in search of the ghosts and spirits said to roam the corridors and elaborate network of tunnels and cellars beneath this stateliest of homes. Said by many to be the most haunted building in Leeds, this magnificent house was the birthplace of Lord Darnley, infamous husband of Mary Queen of Scots, and for 300 years the home of the Ingram family until it was bought by Leeds City Council from Lord Halifax in 1922. The house has reopened its door to visitors again following a two-year restoration programme supported by the heritage Lottery Fund.
